For my Father, this piece reflects his life and all the stories he used to tell me and my brothers growing up. Stories of how he grew up alone on the streets of Flattbush New York. With his mother dying when he was twelve years old and his father absent. Nothing but the will to protect his brothers and sisters. Being separated into different foster homes, growing up he was one of the only kids on the streets who knew how to fight. To control the mental state, mastering Boxing, Tykwando, Shotokan. His life was filled with struggles, danger and endurement. He carried everything with him for his entire life, and when he became a father, he made sure to teach his five children of the harsh reality that is life. I was raised knowing how to fight, knowing how to protect myself, and knowing that there will likely be danger in the future. He taught us right from wrong, and over the years, all of his children became warriors, and that is the story behind this piece.
