While Grandma was on life support for the last month of her life, her home was empty, so I painted this in her absence. The name comes from a Cranberries song called
“Salvation”. I’m not too sure what the painting means, because it sprung from an animal desire to purely create. Its rhythm is its strongest attribute. While I was painting Salvation Is Free I created it upside down, only flipping it over when I was finished. While the painting revealed its true orientation, my heart dropped, at first it gave me quite the fright. Salvation Is Free disturbed me at first, but later grew on me when I realized, it didn’t bother anyone else,
just me.
